Jimmy Page Wanted to Cure Cancer (VIDEO)
Years before Jimmy Page joined The Yardbirds or Led Zeppelin and became one of the greatest guitarists of his generation, he was a member of a teenage quarter that played skiffle music (basically, very bare bones rock ‘n roll.) In this video of one of his earliest known performances, Page gives a brief interview to Huw Wheldon, the host of All Your Own, a children’s program on the BBC.
In response to one of Wheldon’s question, Page offers a candid response about what he dreamed of growing up to be. Hint: not a musician. Turns out Page wanted to be a biologist and do cancer research.
The interview starts at the 2:30 mark.
